Oh my, sharp teeth and tentacles!
These Dark Young for Cthulhu Wars belong to the Black Goat faction. They are some of the larger miniatures that come with the base game, though not the largest.
In the game, these monsters are able to get the ability to control gates and generate power points like cultists do. This gives the Black Goat player more power and point-generation ability than the other factions.
These nasties would be great Cthulhu monsters or alien beasts in any miniatures game.
Their large size is makes them perfect for big, scary monsters.

Hot Lead
Sometimes a menacing glare and a pistol aren't going to get the job done.
I think this is a Copplestone (if not, then a Foundry) model.
I have to stop painting while tired. This isn't such a good paint job, even by my low standards. :-P
I like this next one. A Foundry model, there's a reason he wears that long coat.
This is not a dude I'd want to piss off.

This Way Madness...
I finally got around to finishing up the Cthulhu Wars base set cultists. The last six belong to Yellow Sign.

Twilight is pretty much the worse time to try to take pictures at my desk. |
This makes the twenty-fourth CW cultist I've done.
I've already started on painting the monsters.

Crowd Control
Sometimes things get out of control in Mega-City One and the citizens get rowdy in massive numbers.
![]() |
Let's take back control. |
This Riot Judge, from Warlord/Mongoose, is carrying a riot foam projector. Riot foam can be sprayed on crowds, where it then hardens and makes it nearly impossible for them to move. Easy to handle angry cits when they can't all rush you at once.
This is a decent model, although it seems like one of the older ones of the line.
Foundry also makes a riot foam Judge. I am considering picking it up, although it is carrying a foam projector that is significantly different from this one, which means it isn't a must-buy for me.
Sometimes you're not interested in making arrests. Sometimes the situation calls for something deadlier than riot foam, yet also much heavier than a Lawgiver.
Perhaps it is a horde of zombies, or the walls are overflowing with mutie scum from the Cursed Earth...
That's when you'll be looking for the nearest rotary cannon.
This is another Warlord/Mongoose model, with some nicer sculpting than a lot of the earlier pieces.
With this guy, I tried a less-subtle grey highlighting of the black than I normally do, to try to bring out more detail. I'm not sure I like it.

The Nanny
Work has required a lot more of my time, lately. This is impacting my painting. 😢
This teenager is from Alpha (no longer in business). It's roughly sculpted and simple, but it works.
I picked this one because of its simplicity, so I could get a paint job done quickly. I was too fast with this one, it's not one of my better examples...
This Maria clone (Metropolis) is from Reaper.
This was more interesting to paint. But the darned camera picks up flaws I hadn't noticed before.

Special Ops
New additions to the collection.
Both of these are from Wargames Foundry.
Providing sniper support to the other members of the team.
I don't know what kind of gun this guy is carrying, but it looks formidable.

Mortified
Mega City One has faced some incredible threats, but few more dangerous -- and none as iconic -- as the Dark Judges.

Someone called? |
The Dark Judges are malevolent spirit-judges from an alternative dimension that occasionally cross over into MC1.
They came to the conclusion that crime is only committed by the living, so decided that all life is crime and proceeded to kill off their entire world.
These two models (Judge Mortis and his spirit form) are from Mongoose/Warlord (the former Judge Dredd range).
This poor victim of Mortis' is from JohnnyBorg/Mega Miniatures.
He's a little on the small side, but fits in just fine.
