Execution Style

I didn't get my hands on any of the Assassinator droids from Warlord/Mongoose, but these two pulpy power suits from Dust work just fine.

They are plastic and come pre-assembled on their bases, with a single color paint job.
They possess enough detail to be interesting, although not always consistently, and are easy to paint.

Role Players

Continuing with my Judge Dredd cultists.  Unlike the red-robed guys (who are from North Star), these are from Mongoose/Warlord (although, now available from Rebel).

I can't help but think, with a little laugh, about the Chick Publications "Dark Dungeons", which tells the story of role players that get turned into Satanists by virtue of playing the game.  (It's a completely serious comic warning you that your soul is in jeopardy by playing games like this.)

These are "official" MC1 cultists, with elbow pads and rayguns.

The look of them actually works great for pulp sci-fi, from the retro-future rayguns, to the fins on their shoulders and elbow pads.

The barrel tip of this one's gun broke off.  Still looks good.

Livin' Large

For whatever reason, I am drawn to "unusual" things, such as these fatties.  I always had my eye on them, but being costly, I kept putting them off for purchasing later.
When Mongoose announced that they were giving up the license, I decided to take no chances and grabbed every fattie I could find.

This first guy is one of the later production runs, so he is a mix of resin body with metal limbs and head.

The resin needed a little cleaning, but was mostly ok.  To get the pieces to fit securely, I pinned and used Milliput.

Not everything is great, but the end result looks good enough, so I can forgive the imperfections.

This second guy was from an earlier production run and is all metal.  Given their size, this thing feels pretty hefty in the hand.

It isn't just the weight that is different.  The casting on these is much rougher, with detail-destroying, huge chunks of metal that needed removal.  The torso came in two parts, as well, which didn't fit snugly together.  More Milliput...
Mold lines are pretty hard to clean up on these as well, without destroying more detail.

Both of these guys have right arms that are stubbier and fatter than their left.  Not all the fatties are like this.

As you can see, these are both pretty large dudes.  I don't know if it is the different body types or the resin vs. metal castings, but the resin guy has a slightly smaller body.

Monster Squad

Sitting along the same lines as Hellboy, I've got Buffy and Willow to join in.

Both of these are Hasslefree models and, as usual for his stuff, they look great.  They are smaller/slighter than other 28mm stuff, but not so much so that they will look out of place.  

The Slayer.

They are both fun to paint.

I have to admit that I'm not such a big Buffy fan.  I know that this is sort of heresy in some circles, but I found the writing to be somewhat mediocre, Xander was a jerk instead of a sympathetic geek.
A couple of my friends are really into it, though.

She turned me into a newt.

Perhaps Willow accidentally opened a portal into Dredd's world...

Born Ugly

Oh my, sharp teeth and tentacles!

These Dark Young for Cthulhu Wars belong to the Black Goat faction. They are some of the larger miniatures that come with the base game, though not the largest.

In the game, these monsters are able to get the ability to control gates and generate power points like cultists do.  This gives the Black Goat player more power and point-generation ability than the other factions.

These nasties would be great Cthulhu monsters or alien beasts in any miniatures game.

Their large size is makes them perfect for big, scary monsters.

Hot Lead

Sometimes a menacing glare and a pistol aren't going to get the job done.

I think this is a Copplestone (if not, then a Foundry) model.

I have to stop painting while tired.  This isn't such a good paint job, even by my low standards.  :-P

I like this next one.  A Foundry model, there's a reason he wears that long coat.

This is not a dude I'd want to piss off.
